Nottingham Tree Surgeons|Neighbourly Dispute, Horse Chestnut

Trees and hedges are often the cause of disputes between neighbours, it’s something we come across time after time. In this case the disgruntled neighbour had, unfortunately, taken matters into his own hands. The mature Chestnut was covered by a Tree Preservation Order, however, the council had given the OK for it to be taken down due the fact that the neighbour had attempted to prune off large branches which had then fallen into neighbouring gardens. The pruning had allegedly been done in the middle of the night! Whoever had carried out the pruning was lucky that they hadn’t injured themselves or damaged any property as it was a poor attempt. Many large limbs had been left hanging or balanced within the crown and could have easily fallen at any moment. Once we had the tree on the ground it became apparent that someone had also been drilling holes into the tree and injecting a substance of some sort to try and kill the tree. The loose fence panel, drill holes and stench were a giveaway though! The poison had started to work though and decay was setting in at the base of the tree. Over time this would have weakened the timber at the base and the tree could have gone over, ironically, onto the neighbour’s house!
